Seeking therapy with Rita often begins with a quiet awareness that something in life feels unsustainable. Many clients notice themselves repeating patterns, questioning their sense of self, or feeling weighed down by anxiety, trauma, or self-criticism. Rita does not view these struggles as signs that something is “wrong,” but as meaningful responses that once helped a person cope or survive. Therapy offers a space to better understand these patterns while reconnecting with a deeper sense of wholeness.
Rita provides a safe, nonjudgmental, and trauma-informed environment where clients can explore their experiences openly while recognizing their strengths and resilience. Her approach is grounded in humanistic, DBT, and strengths-based therapies. She supports clients in building insight, developing effective coping skills, and fostering emotional regulation, while also encouraging self-compassion and personal growth. When helpful, she integrates mindfulness and body awareness to promote grounding and healing.
Rita practices from an anti-oppressive framework, recognizing how identity, culture, and systemic factors shape mental health. She understands that many challenges are not solely individual, but are influenced by broader social contexts. Therapy can be both a space for healing and for reclaiming one’s voice.
Rita believes therapy is not about fixing people, but about creating space to feel authentic, whole, and deeply human. She views the therapeutic relationship as a foundation for trust, growth, and meaningful change, and considers it an honor to walk alongside clients in their process.
Rita offers a complimentary 15-minute consultation, accepts most major insurances, and provides a sliding fee scale on a case-by-case basis. She earned her master’s degree in Counseling and Psychological Services from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and practices under the supervision of Nicole Carreon, MA, LMFT.
